Question #1:
Is it bad to keep sneakers and socks on my children all day everyday?
My mom thinks I should keep them barefoot. I hate bare feet and want them dressed in case we go outside. Plus we have hard floors in the house and they get cold and are hard on their feet. They are two and four years old. The shoes are usually off an hour or so before bed. What do you do?

Touring bicycle shoes with standard pedals on a road bike?
A friend of mine recently gave me a pair of touring bicycle shoes, because they were too small for him. Anyway, My road bike has regular pedals, so I was wondering if I'd be able to use these shoes with my pedals. Are there other people who do this, or will I look like a jackass wearing bicycle shoes on regular pedals ?Further, will the stiffer sole make a difference when I ride 40 odd kms ,when compared with my sneakers ?Thanks in advance
@Bob A and Tore: Thanks a lot for the super quick replies. I think I'll definitely consider buying new pedals (possibly the combi pedals) but I wont be able to buy those for at least a month. So do u think I could still use the shoes in the meantime?

Question #6:
What do I, a female, wear to a business dinner?
I was invited to a thank you dinner for businesses in my area by a non-profit organization. I have never been. My boss invited me and told me to dress nicely. Nicely? I asked him if it was business casual or business formal or just formal or just semi formal or well you get the idea. He shrugged and said "just..just dress nicely. the men will probably wear suits." I asked "well, what about dress pants and a nice blouse?" he hesitated and said "ehh...yeahh.....that couldd work." I asked if what i was currently wearing at work would do(dress pants, eh blouse), he told me to punch it up a notch." I am befuddled. I do not want to make a bad impression during this networking opportunity. there's a cocktail hour and then dinner, so does that mean i can wear a conservative cocktail dress? or can i wear a loose skirt with a very nice blouse, panty hose, and heels (1-2in)?I ask for this advice because just two years prior, i wore over baggy guy sweaters, black bun hair, large dorky ugly glasses, sneakers and baggy frayed pants. Now i have shoulder high hair, stylish glasses (thick square frames...it fits my face structure), flats, dress pants and blouses and there's 40 pounds less of me. I am still the sweater baggy pants girl from years ago hiding underneath all the "professionally looking" person you would see at work. But I have very low understanding of dressing up for these business networking events! PLEASE Please help! Any advice would be deeply appreciated!
Befuddled,
Glow

Is it ok to keep sneakers and socks on my kids all day everyday?
I have always been a shoe wearing person myself and don't like the kids running around all day in their bare feet. I use to get so annoyed by it on the show Jon and Kate plus 8 and Supernanny. So as a general practice I just dress them to the shoes when they wake up in the morning and they don't come off until bedtime. My mother says it's bad for their feet, but I always make sure the shoes are fitted right. My husband always wore shoes growing up and his feet are fine. My kids are 2, 4 and 6 and their feet seem fine. I also like having them dressed if we need to leave the house. I don't like sandals and flip flops either. I should note that my kids are so use to it, it is normal for them. I was also wondering if anyone else is like us?Yes the beach and the pool and sometimes on weekends, but most days they wear them all day.

Question #17:

<Q/Could a corrupt outfit write accurate computer code ?If an outfit is writing inaccurate computer code does that mean to say the outfit is corrupt ?
A/ by Mark T Member /Well, at a basic level, no. It could just be that you have bad programmers or they are stressed out or under-resourced or any number of other far more - regular problems.
But that's not to discount the notion of smart people doing less than ethical stuff, I was involved with a firm that was very enthusiastic about outsourcing anything technical that wasn't nailed down, they held their technical staff largely in contempt.
What happened. The folks they outsourced to became their primary competition and essentially terminated the company from within, basically the outsourcing firm fired the "customer", set a small office up in New York with some former models and dominated sales in the same area their former customer had been doing business for over 50 years.
Being in the position to see the writing on the wall, I got out fast and ultimately, I left that segment of the industry - just because there was an astounding amount of stupidity on the part of some of the firms involved.
There are many similar examples, I could note, but I find it - in a way reassuring that it's VERY VERY important to note that alot of the best programmers are also hackers or crackers and are the very same folks that write some of the viruses and whatnot that we see today.
One of the best movies on this is called Sneakers - Click Here … I highly recommend it.
In that way, it's very important to remember the total dominance of the technically super-competent and that's a concern.
Chinese and Russian virus writers are among the very best coders on the planet. Americans are - pretty seriously negligent in this regard - and I say this as an American, but as an American who has seen the level of interest in the hardest and most challenging computer and engineering classes, and the utter disinterest most software engineers have for really knowing the stuff nearly as well as our Russian, Indian or Chinese counterparts, to say nothing of any other nationalities or even other Americans who certainly don't always have the interests of everyone else in mind.

I myself tend to ascribe to the idea of a modified golden rule, I tend to be kindly towards people who do not know or are less intelligent than myself, and would appreciate a reciprocal action from people smarter than I.

Question #18:
Is it wrong for me to say that I hate my life?
I just turned 19 today and almost everyday I find myself sayinf that I hate my life. This past summer my mom abandoned me and turned my brother and little sister against me. After years of abuse during my childhood my mother claimed that I was her mistake and my little sister will be her golden child. Throughout my whole childhood I was depressed and it carried over to my teenage years. I'm so depressed about almost everyday, I feel guilty about my mother abandoning me, I hate the fact that my life seems to be going no where. Plus I'm all alone...all the time!!! My dad is more into his girlfriend than he is into me, and on his side of the family I don't really seem to fit in besides kinda looking like them. My mom's side of the family is always criticizing me for everything I do...the clothes I wear (which is normally a nice shirt and some jeans) , the shoes I wear (normally sneakers...which to them is a problem), and even if I wear my hair in a ponytail (they say I look like a kid) I hate being around them because I feel like a science expirament on display. My aunt and grandma always point out that I'm not like normal 19 year olds because I wear sneakers and I'm a bit more boyish than them (I like video games, sneakers, sports, etc...). I wasn't allowed to be a girly girl as a kid because my mom didn't want me to act slutty I guess. But any way I just wanna know is it wrong for me to hate my life?Question #19:
How can i dress more girly?
well im 14 and usualy wear jeans sneakers and a shirt.Question #20:
